Goken America, a North America-based design engineering technology company, today announced its first-ever appearance in the 36th annual Inc. 5000 list, the most prestigious ranking of the nation’s fastest-growing private companies. The list provides a unique look at the most successful companies within the U.S. economy’s most dynamic segment – independent business.
Goken America was also included on the 2017 Columbus Business First Fast 50 list for a second time – an annual recognition honoring Central Ohio’s fastest-growing businesses. Goken America debuted on the list in 2014.
“We started Goken America with the goal of creating something different. That ‘something different’ is an environment where our associates can thrive as everyday partners with our clients, helping them design and build better products,” said Doug Smith, Goken America CEO. “These achievements, recognizing our significant growth, were earned by our associates’ dedication, enthusiasm and continually growing technical skills.”
Goken America’s primary business is supporting product development in the automotive manufacturing market. The company’s commitment to innovation and technological advancement in this market is demonstrated by its involvement with the Ohio State University Center for Automotive Research. Additionally, Goken America has begun to expand into other manufacturing markets including aerospace, medical devices, energy, and consumer products.
The company’s growth is not limited to sales and revenue. Goken America also is planning two new regional offices in 2018, including one in the metro Detroit area to support its current automotive OEM clients there and to expand its business. Goken America also is growing its workforce.
“Goken America is the place for the best and brightest,” said Julie McDonald, Goken America Director of Human Resources. “Our sustained growth is dependent on our ability to attract and retain new talent. We offer a unique environment of opportunity and ongoing professional development that provides Goken America associates with career mobility and diversity.”
Initial and ongoing associate development is the foundation of the Goken America culture that has resulted in its success and growth. Each engineer and technical professional receives project-specific training before beginning work on a client project.
“Our clients appreciate that new Goken America members of a project team are well-prepared,” said Bill Nichols, Goken America chief operating officer. “Preparation also improves our associates’ job satisfaction. They clearly understand their role, and what they are contributing to the team.”
