When bringing a new product to market, organizations often face the demanding challenge of quickly forming operational teams that are productive and cost-efficient.
With tight timelines and deadlines approaching, you need to rapidly form teams ready to perform the second they step in the door.
This is where we step in.
Goken has about two decades of experience helping automotive manufacturers accelerate their product lifecycles, helping them rapidly build experience teams. These teams produce a high performance against KPIs because of their client-specific training on processes and design methodologies before stepping foot on-site. Manufacturers seek our assistance when they are looking to shorten developmental cycles, require management of frequent design changes, or are looking to meet aggressive delivery schedules. Whether you are developing a completely new product or vehicle model changes, the time to form operational teams is slim to none.
In January 2021, Goken was approached by a rapidly growing electric vehicle startup to build a self-managed team of 35 engineers to support interior, exterior, and structural design. Goken delivered a fully functional team in 60 days. The team is responsible for early concept creation for new models and supporting late design changes for models approaching mass production. Goken's self-managed team consisted of a senior project engineer with relevant technical project team management experience with support from technically skilled subject matter-specific team leads. These team leads train and direct additional support staff to achieve milestones. The senior engineer facilitates interaction with the client's engineering team and sets the schedule, layout requirements, design considerations, and development tasks using standard design methodologies to ensure consistent delivery. Lead staff is located at the client site, with support staff distributed at various locations, including our tech center in Dublin, OH.
We achieved this rapid ramp-up through our experience crafting support teams from the ground up and carefully recruiting new engineers and designers for support. Our knowledge management processes train our team on client culture and specific systems (PLM, SAP, etc.). In addition, engineers are trained in specific client CAD software processes (Product Structure, File Naming, Part Numbering, Design for Manufacture, and Design for Assembly Standards). Designers are trained in Part Release, Setting Attributes, Revisions, and Variant Configuration Management. These client-specific training sessions are essential to integration into the client system, communication, and execution. Combining the client-specific training with our own internal standard design methodology creates an opportunity to help our client discover efficiencies in design and updatability. While utilizing Goken, the client has realized an overall cost saving of more than $120,000 from recruitment and training alone!
