The Challenge
A major OEM’s design team was losing valuable time manually configuring welds. Repetitive design tasks and frequent back-and-forth over invalid weld parameters led to delays and rising development costs, making the overall process inefficient and error-prone.
Our Solution
Goken developed an API-based weld automation tool to streamline the creation and validation of weld configurations. Designers could now request a new weld configuration directly within their workflow. The system would automatically:
Detect the new configuration through a Windows service
Trigger the Goken API tool
Validate the configuration against a centralized weld database
If approved, the system would instantly generate the weld tip, annotate it visually with “OK” or “NG” (No-Go) indicators, and update the database. If rejected, users received clear feedback on what was not allowed—such as sheet thickness, part combinations, or substitute parameters—and could revise the input directly in the tool.
The Impact
Goken’s automation eliminated redundant manual steps, reduced iterations, and significantly cut time and cost in the weld development cycle. The tool allowed designers to focus on innovation instead of validation, accelerating product development and improving overall engineering efficiency.
